Fund Philosophy

The Cutler Investment Fund, L.P. (CIF), seeks to achieve the long-term returns associated with a stock portfolio but with less volatility.

Investment Strategy

The CIF Partnership invests primarily in a diversified portfolio of securities that are convertible into common stocks and issued by both U.S. and foreign companies. Advantages of convertibles include:
  • Potential for capital appreciation if the value of the underlying common stock increases;
  • Relatively high yield from dividend or interest payments, compared to common stock dividends;
  • Relatively lower price volatility, compared to common stock.

A portion of the portfolio also may be invested in real estate investment trusts (REITs), dividend-paying equities, and alternative investment opportunities.The General Partner will leverage the portfolio by purchasing securities on margin. While the potential gains are greater than for other Cutler Capital strategies, so are the risks. Options and short selling are employed to manage risk or generate income.

Fund General Partner

Cutler Capital Management, LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company, is the General Partner and is responsible for the Partnership’s business and affairs, including investment of assets. Cutler Capital is an investment management firm with over $300 million of assets under management. Cutler specializes in blending convertible securities, real estate investment trusts (REITs) and dividend-paying stocks, to provide growth and income to high-net-worth investors, institutional investors, and non-profit organizations, including charitable foundations.
