Worcester Resident Named COO of Cutler Capital

Worcester-based investment management firm Cutler Capital Management has named a Worcester resident as its chief operating officer.

Gregory Smith, previously the director for alternative investments at Barings LLC, will assume the role, the firm announced Wednesday.

At Barings, a firm owned by MassMutual Life Insurance Co., Smith focused on product development and portfolio management.

Prior to Barings, Smith worked as corporate counsel and chief compliance officer at Wood Creek Capital Management in Connecticut before that firm merged with Barings.

He also has a stint with Connecticut-based Wright Investors’ Service, Inc.

Smith has a bachelor’s degree in finance and a law degree from the University of Connecticut.
